Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone has a great holiday. My big bro Kain is not going to be with his human this year so I'll be thinking about him. And Kitty is going to be alone a lot too. I'm packing up right now and we are all heading out the door soon.

I'm no Grinch!

It was a series of events that culminated into this situation...After many visits and a couple bike weekends I still had no intention of this happening. However, this weekend my human and the big guy invited a lot of people over to the house. I got put on the leash and attached to my momma for the entire day. Everyone was eating and drinking and laughing and walking around. I tried very hard to remain calm and quiet. A few times I just gave up and let a couple people within the usual off-limits area.

Then this guy showed up and I knew he seemed familiar but the lady wasn't with him. Later in the evening after a lot of people left I got let off the leash and did a few walk-bys just to test the waters. I will admit that the pets felt pretty good which is why I let him pick me up for a cuddle. Made me feel like laughing.
I just want to let the weenie-petting lady know that I'm sorry but it had to happen.

Kacy had a really long day as well. She made a point of greeting everyone at the door and visiting with all ofthem. Sharing some of the food. Showing how tough she can be. But in the end...

Texas Travels

We loaded up the SS and left Kacy behind for the weekend. I really wish she was smaller because she would help make these adventures much more manageable for me.

We drove for hours and hours and finally in the dark of night arrived at some strange place. I went into sniff overload. In the morning when I looked out there were those big dog things in the field just a few feet away. Some people came out to join us, new people and people I met before. That lady who pets really good was there and she was always picking me up and putting me in her lap. It's a little too early to let her know but I really do like that a lot.

They all went out for rides on their bikes and my human and I checked out the lay of the land. It was really pretty but those darn stickers hampered my new freedom. Don't worry my human was always there to keep me in check.

Upgraded to House Arrest...

...for the next month and then my momma can start taking me for walks. The wiener doctor was very happy with all of my motor skill and neurodogical responses at the checkup today. The doctor told me to take it easy but I just want to RUUUUN. I also want to play with Kacy and I want to jump on the big guy and I want to kill things.
What's on the absolutely not-to-do list: stairs and jumping.
My scar is looking pretty good but it's awfully chilly with my big bald strip.

I give thanks...

... to my human for treating me real good these last couple weeks. I mean really, how much better can a weenie's life get. Forced to stay on the couch with her, under blankets. Put into bed with her every morning for long naps. Taken along on all the trips in the SS. But I really can't wait to run around like a wild monkey.

I'd really like to be a...

...super weenie but my human is being very strict. The first couple days back at home I was feeling weak and couldn't really use my back legs. It made going to the bathroom a little embarassing but now I feel like I could get back to doing some wind sprints. I've tried making a run for it but one of them is always there to stop me and put me back into the kennel.

Take care of your wiener.

Like many wieners I have to be very careful with my loooong back. You know that I use ramps instead of stairs and I've had to take some pills to help with pain. My neck started hurting this weekend so this time my human wanted to figure out exactly what was bothering me.

I went to see a special wiener doctor at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. I got a needle that put me to sleep so they could take some high tech pictures of me from nose to tail. The doctor figured out what she needed to do and then I got another needle and went back to sleep.

While I was out the doctor made a long incision down my back and fixed some discs. She stapled everything up with 23 staples. When I woke up I was very wobbly and I couldn't really feel much of anything. I stayed with the doctor and all of the awesome wiener nurses for 2 more nights. They treated me really good. I think they might love wieners a lot.

I was really happy when I saw my human and the big guy at the hospital. I'm back home now and feeling pretty good though I can't stand up for very long and I am on strict cage rest for a long time.
(*apparently I am feeling pretty good due to the little blue sticker you see on my back. It's got drugs on it)

Flood warning...

...in Houston.

4 inches by noon!!! I could drown. Good thing I know how to swim. I'll just make sure to stay away from the ditches of swift-moving water. Better yet, I just won't go outside.

I met me...

...a girl.

The big guy was racing his bike again this weekend and we visited some humans who have 2 dogs. I've met them both before but the little girl sure smelled goooooooooood. I felt a tickle where I've never felt a tickle before.

The doc...

...says my human has to be a lot better at keeping me from leaping around so much and to maybe help me lose a little weight. So I'm always supposed to take the ramps and I am not allowed on my favorite lookout perch anymore. And I have to go in my kennel when no one is around.

But I like to super-dog and do wind sprints occasionally and when my back hurts I can't do all those fun things.

It's hard being a wiener.

It's official!!

This wiener and his human are now officially part of the Pritchard pack. I sure do love the big guy!

Monday, August 17, 2009

My pack is...

...complete.

Kacy is back home. We went and picked her up yesterday. She smelled like farm so she got the spa treatment when we got to the house. And this morning I was in heaven because I got back into licking the Greenie goo off her lips.

How many lives does a dog get?

I may be on borrowed time considering all the near misses in my almost 4 years.

One night at the lake we were hanging out by the fire, listening to the mosquitoes buzzing when my human lights this thing on fire. It fizzed for a few seconds so I thought it would just go out but instead, out of freakin' nowhere, it got really bright and made a loud bang. I almost died.

My human and the big guy convinced me to come back from the safety of the shed next door.

And then it happened again. Louder bangs and brighter lights. Seriously. I almost died.

Back from the Great White...

...North. It's not white.

My human loaded me up into my kennel again and I got squished under a seat for 4 hours. But when she let me out...What a surprise!!! We were back in the homeland, visiting people, picking up my big bro Kain and heading out to Buck Lake.

We spent days and days out there. Running through the grass. Sniffing out all the sniffs. Barking at all the people who dared to walk within 200 yards (I mean meters, those US imperialists tend to rub off on a wiener) of my place. Going for drives. Napping in the sun. Playing with tennis balls!!!

I met another human who looked and sounded a lot like my human. I could tell he really liked me but I wasn't going anywhere near him. Maybe next time. You gotta be patient with me, people.

Speaking of patient...we stayed at this house a couple nights where the people were very patient with me so I let them pet me without the usual 6 month waiting period. They had a dog with a squished up nose. She kept getting in my way. I think I'll make her wait 6 months.

And then...
...
....
...THE BIG GUY SHOWED UP! oooh doggy! was I excited!

We spent so much time at Buck Lake that I was beginning to think we were staying out there for good. But we had to say good-bye to Kain (yup, it was sad) and I got squished under a seat for another 4 hours.

The heat is...

...on.

Lots of laying around and playing inside.

The big guy was up to something a few weeks ago. He'd leave really early and come home really dirty. I think he was going to the park with my human. Now I know a weenie can't come out just anywhere but you would think that once in a long while they would just take me with them.

Friday, May 15, 2009

You've got...

...mail.

I got a very nice get well card from one of my very favorite humans from Canada. I guess she heard that I was injured. I remember she was here in Houston once. A very long time ago.

I'll be a travellin' weenie again this summer so maybe I'll get a chance to see her and her pack. I wonder if Kacy gets to be a travellin' boxer???

After a week of...

...crate rest I am finally free to be a weenie again. My humans built me some ramps and I'm trying really hard to remember to use them but the stairs are right there so sometimes I forget.

We had some guests over the other night and I think I remember them from the biking weekend. Anywho...I got a little excited and pooped in front of them. Sorry. I hope they visit again soon 'cuz the lady is a good petter of weenies.

Race Results

I came in 6th. Out of 7. I may be a fast weenie but apparently I'm not the fastest. No one told me there would be that many people cheering me on. I had to stop halfway and make sure all those people were staying put. Thank goodness my human was waiting at the finish line for me.

There were over 600 wiener dogs registered to race at Buda. That's a lot of weenies. We took some photos so I'll put them up next.

I'd like to run again but my racing career is on hold due to a serious injury. My back hurts. After x-rays and talkin' to the doc I'm currently on confined bed rest and lots of pills. My human looks worried so I'll do what she says.

Look for me in Lane 2 Orange.

My momma told me...

...I need to start packing. We're hitting the road again. The big race is tomorrow. I'm pretty excited because the screamin' monkey was brought into play. Well, it's not a monkey anymore but the sound still gets me all riled up.

On the road...

...again.

After another long drive with the pack, my human, Kacy and I sat on a sidewalk and watched a bunch of bike riders go by. There were people on the sidewalk with us and so many of them stopped to visit with Kacy 'cuz she is so friendly. I hung back and just scoped out the sitch until this little boy came and sat down beside me. He petted me and petted me and petted me. I really didn't have a choice in the matter. I was a little tense but eventually I got kinda tired and fell asleep on him.

Now I'm supposed to think "Speed" all the time until the big day. Just 5 more sleeps.

Whoa Nelly!

Everyone knows how much Kacy and I love field trips but this one almost got out of hand.

We stopped on the side of the road for what I thought was a pit stop but instead I had to step in and protect my human and Kacy from some pretty wierd looking dogs.

This one was just standing there. Chewing and chewing and chewing.

And then this thing came out of nowhere and starting honking/yelling at us. Gettin' up in my grill.

So I had to show him who was boss. (thank goodness for the fence).

And as usual we had to stop and take the usual pack photo.

Have you ever met a stranger but she...

...seems really familiar?

There has been another human in the house and she sounds a lot like my human.

Running, running, running...

...we woke up early to get out to the airport. I didn't know that's where we were running so I got a little confused thinking that maybe we were all going on a trip.

There were a LOT of dogs. All kinds of boxers and wieners. Big dogs. Little dogs. Hairy dogs. Barking dogs. Kacy just wanted to check everything out but with all of those people I got really nervous and stayed as close to the big guy as possible.

When race time finally rolled around my human and Kacy started without us because they wanted to go faster. So the big guy and I stayed with a huge pack and walked down the runway.

Then we spotted our team and went in for the handoff.

After a short running transition I ran the final leg in to the finish line for a team effort of 34:18. Not our best but I am a pretty happy weenie anyway.

My human has been up to something...

...she's been getting up really early and when she comes home she smells like the park. All over. She can't be going there without us.

Sunday, January 18, 2009

I have the best...

...human. Last night she let me sleep in the basket instead of the kennel. And then in the middle of the night she scooped me out of the basket and put me into the bed. Now any wiener knows not to mess with a good thing so I just curled up and shut up. Keeping my toes crossed for tonight ;)

Not so sure jogging...

...is the thing for me. I prefer the wind sprints and the superdogging. I'll keep trying though because I like hanging with the human.

Apparently action shots are hard to get while in action so I posed on the trail.

Oh and something happened while we were out. Big Guy? You may not want to hear this. But as we all know Kacy is the "counter surfer" and I have been branded as the "shredder". However, there was undeniable proof on the floor of her shredding abilities. I think an apology is in order.

WOO ! WOO !

I'd howl if I could because my human just told me that she was going to take me with her on her run this morning. I got a little upset yesterday when she took Kacy and left me home alone...wondering...waiting...pacing...
