...but when my human pulled me out of my bag at airport security I pooped. I know, I know... I've been through there enough times that I should have it under control but it's been a year since my last trip and I kinda forgot what I was supposed to be doing. Acting calm, cool and under control.
Anyway, here we are in Calgary. My human is taking me everywhere with her but we still don't have Kain. Soon, I hope.

Rain, rain, rain
Being a lowrider with not much clearance is not very practical in rainy weather. My undercarriage picks up a lot of road grime even on short walks.

Another sad day for cats...
...my human told me that the lady I've met a few times who is so much like my human loved a cat named Molly. My human said she always tried to convince the lady to call the cat Stinky but Molly it was. The lady had Molly for years and years and Molly was a good cat to the lady. Kinda like my human is the only one for me, the lady was the only one for Molly.
Molly had some leg troubles and had to go see the cat doctor and cat nurses and they all thought she was fixed but she wasn't.
Last week Molly died and the lady is really, really sad. I hope she knows that all of us dogs and cats love our humans. Forever.

I was busy diggin' and diggin' and diggin'...
... and my human scared the poop out of me!!! Sheesh. I was doing what wieners do. You can't just go around touching them when they aren't looking!!
I may have screamed like a little girl but that is no excuse to laugh at me.

We went out visiting this weekend and I...
... think I did pretty good considering they were all strangers. But there was another wiener dog there. And she had looooong hair. And she was jumping all over me. I know I'm pretty irresistible but you gotta give a dog some room, women! They put me in the pen with her a couple times and she jumped on my back and started rubbing me. It felt a little wierd.
My human let me off the leash after a while and I got to sniff out the big back yard. I had to tell the big dog next door to back off. Then on the way home I was really tired. And I was tired the next day as well. In fact, I'm still a little tired today.

Canadian visitor...
...I could tell just by the way he took his shoes off at the door. My human doesn't even do that anymore.
He was real nice and he had a good smell on him. And he paid me no never mind - but my friends have no fear because I have enough - I kept a mere 10 foot safety radius and hardly even tucked my tail.

Pros and cons of back surgery...
Pro - sleep in bed with humans
Con - put in kennel when they are out for the day and unable to assist Kacy in her quest for food
Pro - carried up and down stairs
Con - can't fit through gate and stair railings when I really have to go
Pro - back is good enough to be a "Super Weenie" again
Con - no one lets me "leapers" anymore

Proud Canadian Wiener!
We watched a lot of the Olympics just for a heart-warming glimpse of home. And it was so exciting to see those people win all of those gold collars.

These Americans are pretty...
...darn quick when they wanna be. My human came home and said she got stamped for approval. I wonder if it's like the stamp I have on my ear????
I have lived in the USofA most of my life...
...and I will always be the Canadian Wiener.
But since my human went and fell in love with the Big Guy she told me that they have to go talk to some government people this morning about making us legal US immigrants. She thinks it might be the last hurdle so I'm keeping my toes crossed.

Frozen in time.
It's been a little chilly here in Houston for the past few days but I'm not complaining. We've been sleeping like a pack at night in the bed and I get the prime middle position. Always in some nook or crook.

2010 Year of the Wiener
A new year is also an anniversary for me. Four years with my human has included many kilometres/miles of travel. One road trip put me on the brink of death. Squished under airplane seats for hours on end with no complaints because the destinations are always fun and include my family on both sides of the border. I'm home if I am with my human.

Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone has a great holiday. My big bro Kain is not going to be with his human this year so I'll be thinking about him. And Kitty is going to be alone a lot too. I'm packing up right now and we are all heading out the door soon.

I'm no Grinch!
It was a series of events that culminated into this situation...
After many visits and a couple bike weekends I still had no intention of this happening. However, this weekend my human and the big guy invited a lot of people over to the house. I got put on the leash and attached to my momma for the entire day. Everyone was eating and drinking and laughing and walking around. I tried very hard to remain calm and quiet. A few times I just gave up and let a couple people within the usual off-limits area.
Then this guy showed up and I knew he seemed familiar but the lady wasn't with him. Later in the evening after a lot of people left I got let off the leash and did a few walk-bys just to test the waters.
I will admit that the pets felt pretty good which is why I let him pick me up for a cuddle. Made me feel like laughing.
I just want to let the weenie-petting lady know that I'm sorry but it had to happen.
Kacy had a really long day as well. She made a point of greeting everyone at the door and visiting with all ofthem. Sharing some of the food. Showing how tough she can be. But in the end...

Texas Travels
We loaded up the SS and left Kacy behind for the weekend. I really wish she was smaller because she would help make these adventures much more manageable for me.
We drove for hours and hours and finally in the dark of night arrived at some strange place. I went into sniff overload. In the morning when I looked out there were those big dog things in the field just a few feet away. Some people came out to join us, new people and people I met before. That lady who pets really good was there and she was always picking me up and putting me in her lap. It's a little too early to let her know but I really do like that a lot.
They all went out for rides on their bikes and my human and I checked out the lay of the land. It was really pretty but those darn stickers hampered my new freedom. Don't worry my human was always there to keep me in check.

Upgraded to House Arrest...
...for the next month and then my momma can start taking me for walks. The wiener doctor was very happy with all of my motor skill and neurodogical responses at the checkup today. The doctor told me to take it easy but I just want to RUUUUN. I also want to play with Kacy and I want to jump on the big guy and I want to kill things.
What's on the absolutely not-to-do list: stairs and jumping.
My scar is looking pretty good but it's awfully chilly with my big bald strip.

I give thanks...
... to my human for treating me real good these last couple weeks. I mean really, how much better can a weenie's life get. Forced to stay on the couch with her, under blankets. Put into bed with her every morning for long naps. Taken along on all the trips in the SS. But I really can't wait to run around like a wild monkey.

I'd really like to be a...
...super weenie but my human is being very strict. The first couple days back at home I was feeling weak and couldn't really use my back legs. It made going to the bathroom a little embarassing but now I feel like I could get back to doing some wind sprints. I've tried making a run for it but one of them is always there to stop me and put me back into the kennel.

Take care of your wiener.
Like many wieners I have to be very careful with my loooong back. You know that I use ramps instead of stairs and I've had to take some pills to help with pain. My neck started hurting this weekend so this time my human wanted to figure out exactly what was bothering me.
I went to see a special wiener doctor at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. I got a needle that put me to sleep so they could take some high tech pictures of me from nose to tail. The doctor figured out what she needed to do and then I got another needle and went back to sleep.

While I was out the doctor made a long incision down my back and fixed some discs. She stapled everything up with 23 staples. When I woke up I was very wobbly and I couldn't really feel much of anything. I stayed with the doctor and all of the awesome wiener nurses for 2 more nights. They treated me really good. I think they might love wieners a lot.
I was really happy when I saw my human and the big guy at the hospital. I'm back home now and feeling pretty good though I can't stand up for very long and I am on strict cage rest for a long time.
(*apparently I am feeling pretty good due to the little blue sticker you see on my back. It's got drugs on it)
