This has been one of our favourite daily dachshund blogs to read for a few years now so we know all about the troubles Maggie and Joey have gone through. Our whole family is hoping that Maggie gets to go home soon.

We don't often chat with other dogs...
...during our morning walks. But this morning my human made a bee-line for the guy that walks the other wiener in the hood. Except this morning he was walking 2 wieners. We all had met the 2nd wiener before but she didn't. So we had to stop and blah blah blah blah blah. I just sat down and waited why those 2 wieners got a lot of attention. The new wiener was barking right in Kacy's and Kain's face and they let him. I suppose I should be jealous but technically all of us wieners are related somehow. Give a weenie a break, right?
The man said the new wiener wasn't treated very nice before he got him. Little weenie has some scars on his chest and back. But let me tell ya, he sure is a shiny little wiener. And the other wiener girl has allergies so she was happy just to get scratched.

I pity the fool...
...(or at least the neighbors cleaning lady) who dares to step into our 'hood. You think I'm joking about the black dog gang?!? Sure, Kacy isn't black but she's a big girl that doesn't mess around. And we all know Kain's capabilities in the "mean as hell" department.

We spend a lot of time together...
...as a pack. Kain seems to be happier now that he realizes he is a dog and can have dog friends. I spend extra time each day with him so he knows this is the best home for dogs. I really like playing with him now without the fear of a sudden temper tantrum. I think he might remember how much fun we used to have when I was a little boy and we would play Chase the Fast Little Wiener. My human makes us all hang out together to help us feel good. She will trim our nails, which none of us like. But we let her because she gives a great dog massage. She will brush us to keep us shiny. She will get the vacuum out to clean up our hair and I will remind her by sitting politely in front of the vacuum that she should get busy vacuuming us instead of the carpet. She makes me so happy when she asks "Who wants some?" I guess she makes all of us happy because we all line up and wait our turn.

I almost forgot to tell you that I had...
...a breakthrough.
We had a visitor to the house the other night and he looked so much like the Big Guy (nope it wasn't Big Guys brother - he still scares me).
Tall.
Bald.
Happy.
So even though I was on high alert my momma told me she was very impressed with my inquisitive peeks and wagging tail.
Maybe everyone who comes to visit should just shave their head. Help a weenie out.

Weenies, wieners, dachshunds, hot dogs...
...lot of names for us and lots of blogs by us. My human keeps showing me some pretty awesome ones. We like to see them all.

My human says that I am the...
...smartest wiener. Smarter than boxers. Smarter than labs. That's because I figured out after only 2 lessons that when the water bowl is empty and I'm thirsty, all I have to do is ring the bell and Voila! someone comes along and fills the bowl for me.

I just heard that the new Valentine's Day icon...
...is going to be a WIENER. Cupid is old news. Everyone knows that if you have a weenie running the place you will have lots and lots of love.
I love chicken.
I love the Big Butt.
I love Killer Kain.
I love the Big Guy.
But I really, really, really love my momma. (and the cookies she bakes for us)

Big walks...
...equal tired wieners and boxers and labs.
The Big Guy thinks it is awesome that my big diggers are multi-taskers. I was the swimmingest wiener.
Kacy wasn't so thrilled with the pond.
Yup, the big bro lookin' out for me again. Right?

It's really cold here in Houston...
...and I'm not sure I like it. The Big Guy says I should be okay with it, being a Canadian wiener and all. But he doesn't know that my human shoveled the snow off the grass for me when I was a little boy.

Reminds me of the big parks back home in Calgary
We woke up, had some breakfast and then hit the road. We all went to a big park on the edge of town. There was a special fenced area for dogs but you know what my human thinks of that. Instead we stopped at a great spot down the road with a huge lake and miles and miles and miles of places to run and sniff. And there was no one else there. My human and The Big Guy kept a close eye on me. They said because there was no fence you just never know what could jump out of the bushes and take a wiener away. I said "AS IF. I'm a wiener. Let 'em try." Then we came around a corner and there was a huge pond perfect for swimming wieners and wading black labs and tiptoeing boxers. We all got wet chasing the tennis balls. It's a good thing we have a water dog living with us now because he can go out and get those balls that we don't want to. But the best part of the adventure was that we didn't have to get bathed when we got home.

Whew!
Big sigh! after a BIG kerfuffle last night at the door when my human and The Big Guy came home. We always get so excited, barking and howling and jumping up and down and all of a sudden Kain didn't like Kacy being in his personal space so he snapped and then she really snapped. All of a sudden she was on his back and chomping on his neck and there was a lot of growling and snarling and I just bolted. But she is such a sweet girl that as soon as everything calmed down Kacy went over and wanted to give Kain a makeup kiss. Maybe he'll learn not to mess with big girls! I'm happy to say that this morning all is quiet on the southeastern Texas front.

Hanging with the human...
...she and The Big Guy have been getting up really early and leaving the house every morning. They come back pretty smelly but we get to do all the usual stuff. Walk, treats, breakfast and then we get fed. And it seems that my momma and I are back on the nappin' schedule. And The Big Guy wonders why I don't really listen to him.
It's been a good new year so far.
Also my human says that I may have to trade in my fall jacket for my winter jacket in a couple days. I told her that we should just nap already.

CHICKEN!!!
I like tortillas. I like ice cream. I like my momma's peanut butter treats. I like cheese. I like chips. But what I really like is CHICKEN!
The Big Guy has been busy preparing to make his delicious gumbo for a party that I prefer not to think about at this time. (All those people make me a little desperate)
But for now all I can think about is CHICKEN. Kacy too. Kain too but he is learning that he can't be in the kitchen.
As I'm sure you can tell my broken nose is working just fine to sniff out the CHICKEN.

If I could turn back time...
...I would either stop licking Kain sooner or move my big nose faster. As it stands I have a scratch on my chin, a puncture on the right side of my nose and....
....a broken nose.
I don't want to alarm anyone. After a quick visit to the weiner doctor I got a couple shots and sent home with more pills to keep me happy and pills to keep me healthy. My nose hurts a lot but I still feel like eating though drinking water is a little painful.
My momma reminded me of the time 5 years ago when the same thing happened. It was such a long time ago that I forgot all about it.
We are under strict supervision so I'm not really worried. In fact, Kain let me lick him for a little while today.

It's a little chilly this morning...
...so I weaseled my way into sharing Kain's bed. He must be tired or maybe he is finally giving in to my sweet ways.
My human and the Big Guy have been extra strict with all us to help Kain get into the "routine". We go for our early morning walk, usually with the Big Guy, then we go upstairs to the kitchen where Kain and Kacy get all of their medicine. We all know to sit in a line near the pantry and wait for our special treats that our human bakes for us.
Then it's back downstairs where we sit patiently and wait for our breakfast. Kacy drools and I find it hard to sit still but Kain just sits. I think he saves his energy for the eating frenzy. He wins every time.
We have nice long naps all day long until dinner time then we have to sit and wait again. You would think that we would get used to waiting but all we can think about is FOOD.
Shortly after, when I hear the garage door opening, we all freak out because it means the Big Guy has come home. I bark and bark and bark and Kacy howls and Kain WOOOOOFs.
We really like it when everyone is home because then we can play and get extra attention until it's time for our nighttime walk. We all head out and walk our usual route. There's always good stuff to sniff. My human says it's because there are a lot of other hairy beasts that live in our neighborhood. Sometimes we see other hairy things slinking and scurrying around but we usually get yanked away.
Back at home while my human and the Big Guy are getting ready for bed I like to do windsprints up and down the hall. Kain likes to run around with a toy in his mouth. And Kacy likes to avoid me while scoping out her first place of rest.
Then it really is time for bed and when someone crouches down and gives me the signal I bolt over and get lifted into the big bed where I have been sleeping for a long time now. It's really awesome. Except for when I groan and get laughed at.
Apparently Kain and Kacy have figured out that it is perfectly acceptable to share the same couch. My human seems really happy about that.

Sweet sunshine shared...
...with the Big Butt on Kain's super comfortable bed. It's now my favourite spot to sleep during the day. And it's that time of year that the sun shines through the window the whole day long.

My big bro and my big sister...
...are not playing nice together. My human tells Kacy to keep trying because she's being really nice to Kain even though the TEETH have come out. I just roll over and show him my soft underbelly.

One day last week my human...
...woke up, packed a bag and left. Just left. No explanation or invitation. And she was gone for days and days. Then she came home last night and brought someone home with her. KAIN!!!! He got to go through the US border just like me. So now Kacy and I have a big brother. Kain isn't quite sure what to do with us because we are so friendly. And we want to lick him and play with him and sniff him. He's been growling at us a lot and he has shown us his big white teeth - don't worry Kain I remember what those teeth are capable of.

I am starting a black dog gang in Houston...
...and my big bro Kain is the first member. He may try to take control of the gang and I may let him. I haven't yet heard his exact ETA but my human said "get the house ready". She sounds really excited!

It's been almost a year since...
...my big weenie back operation. I barely remember it. My human and The Big Guy always remember it though and they remind me that even though I can superdog I do not have a super back. And guess what?
The Big Butt is on crate rest right now because she is having back problems. Kacy started limping around awhile back and she had to go see her doctor and get some x-rays taken of her back. She's got some ol' girl stuff going on and because it was bothering her so much her doctor said "In your kennel". Kacy's been such a good girl for so many years that her kennel has been folded up in the garage. I didn't know they made kennels that big. I bet I could escape from it pretty easy.
She is on some of that crazy medication that I have had to take for my back and she said she feels a lot better but my humans aren't taking any chances. Apparently it's easier to carry an 11lb weenie than a 76lb boxer up and down the stairs.
