It's been a good, long...

...year. 2009 is knockin' at the door and I want to thank everyone that helped me get through it safe and sound. My human is such a good human. She walks me and plays with me and feeds me and cuddles me and she makes sure I stick to the rules. The big guy who who does the same though he does cuddle me more. I like to leap into his arms. But most of all, it's Kacy who has been there for me. She let's me do pretty much anything I want to her. She is always ready for a bite and wrestle and she has even figured out how to play chase.
Everyone else that I have visited and those that I had to leave behind in Calgary, I think about you all the time.

I am a good little wiener.

When I was a little boy...

...and my human brought me home, I found out that I had a big brother, Kain and 2 stepcats, Kitty and Phatty. You all know that Kain and I played and played and but when he was visiting his human I tried to play with the cats and Phatty was the only one who wouldn't run away from me. He was pretty nice to me, in fact.

My human told me a story yesterday about how when Phatty first came home with them he was a scaredy cat (kinda like me I guess) and he hid in the smallest room in the house. For a month! But one day he realized how nice the two humans would be to him and he showed them what a great cat he was.

When everyone started moving around Kitty and Phatty went to live with Kain's human and Phatty turned out to be such a smart and brave cat that he would go outside by himself and sometimes be gone for days. He would always make sure to bring something special home.

Phatty died suddenly two days ago. I hope Kain's human is okay because I know that he really loved Phatty.

Freeze the wiener!

Just when the bitter Alberta wind was a distant memory my human takes me to the park and I freeze my weenie buns off. It all worked out for the best though because I was getting a little freaked out by all of the people so when I found this warm spot I was happy as a wiener could be.

Yakety yak

Once again I've been a busy little wiener. Travelling around Texas to watch the big guy ride his bike.

Sometimes you have to be very, very quiet.

And sometimes you just have to be.

Kacy has been getting a lot of stuff off of the counter lately. It's a lot of fun ripping and tearing but then it's not so fun when my human comes home and sees what we've done.

Early morning walks...

...are pretty fun. Mostly because I don't have to deal with a lot of stuff. No people or trucks or lawn mowers. Just me, Kacy, my human and the big guy. Running through the streets of the 'hood.

Busy weekend for wieners

We all went for a long drive this weekend and ended up in a big park watching the big guy and a bunch of other people riding around on bikes. Kacy got pretty wound up, I guess because she likes the attention from everybody. All I wanted to do was hide behind my human. She dragged me around a little bit and forced me to endure the most awful thing known to weenies...pets from strangers. But I did get to nap in the sun with my human. I think that may be the most bestest thing known to weenies.

Don't leave me!!

My human gave me a pep talk last night. It went something like this... " We're leaving you with strangers. Blah blah blah. Again. Blah Blah. There will be other wieners there for you to play with. Blah Blah. Don't be afraid. Blah. We will be gone a long time. Blah blah blah. "
They must be going a long way cuz normally they would just pack me up and take me with them. I am going to try very hard to be calm but I really don't want them to go.

Home. Safe and sound.

After waiting a long time at the Calgary airport for my human to catch up to me and the big guy we flew back to Houston and picked up Kacy. Boy, was I happy to see her.
We couldn't stay at our house for a few days because the lights were out and it was pretty hot inside. But we are finally settled back in and I have been running around like crazy and playing with all of the toys.

Chillin' in Wainwright

It's been a very long week. Packed up and carted off to Canada on short notice. Visits with lots of humans in Calgary. Trying extra hard to get Samson to play with me. Only a few minutes with Kain. Now we are in Wainwright where Sheba lives and I am trying to catch up on some sleep.

Hurricane Evacuation

I'm getting the heck out of Dodge. The big guy is packing up some stuff and we are going to meet up with my human in Calgary.

WTF!

My human has put a lot of stuff in one of those big bags with little wheels on it and she hasn't brought my bag out yet. This is NOT FUNNY!

Oooweee, did we have...

...some fun this afternoon. My human and the big guy left the house and they left the door open to the treat room. Kacy managed to reach a lot of stuff and she put out a nice little spread for us.
Jerky - sweet and spicy.
Cheezies - two kinds.
And some fluffy white sweet little morsels that we have never had before.

I think I've said this...

...before - long weekends are good. They are long after all.

These are the days...

...of my life.
I really like having Kacy as my friend.
She pretty much lets me do whatever I want to her. I get to bite her ankles. And NO it's not because that's only as far as I can reach!! Sheesh. Some people.
She lets me lay down next to her.
She lets me take whatever toy I want. Even if she is playing with it.
Anyway. It's just one of those days that I am really happy to have a friend like her around.

I get a little worried...

...every time my peeps leave the house. Kacy and I take turns keeping watch out the front window.

I got some good air...

...last night when I super-dogged into the living room. What a rush!

This weather is a test...

...of my bladder control. Both Kacy and I have agreed that stepping foot into the wet grass to do our business is our least favourite thing to do.

My Summer Vacation

It was great to spend all that time at the lake, just like we used to. And having Kain there to hang out with was the best part of all. Some of the time we would just find a sunny spot to lay in

and other times we would play with our favourite toys in the world. Tennis balls. I like to play keep away but only until they roll under the trailer and then I know that Kain is too big to fit under and get them.

And I was right. Something big did happen. The big guy showed up and he played with us a LOT.

We had to take a lot of breaks because of Kain. I could sense that my human was a little worried about him. His colour has changed a lot and his one eye looks weird and he is definitely not as fast as he used to be.
But he still loves to get involved in everything and show that is the boss. Even with our friend, Sheba. She came out to visit a few times and you can tell that Sheba doesn't let Kain get away with anything. Not even his own duck.
One day we went to the North Saskatchewan River since my people know that I like to swim but mostly because they know that Kain LOVES to swim. It was pretty chilly but I still went after the ball. Kain was right there keeping an eye on things and even though I'd like to think that he was looking out for me I know that he really just wanted the ball too.
While Kain and the big guy were swimming I was warming up on the sand and you will never guess what I found to play with. I didn't know that these things lived in the wild. Aren't they only found in captivity? Anyway, I bit it's nose off.
There was a lot of activity packed into a few weeks so when it came time to get some rest I had to make my move and claim my spot when it came up. Especially at night when it started to get a little chilly.
The only thing missing was Kacy. She had to stay in Texas. I'm not sure why but I think next summer she'll get to see how great it is at Buck Lake.

what the heck...

...is she thinking leaving me alone in a strange house with a woman that I barely know. All I want, EVER, is to be with my human. I am very sorry that I made a mess but sometimes I just cannot keep it all together and something gives.

Did I ever tell you that...

...my human is AWESOME.

After a long day of travel, not knowing where we were going, my human surprised me with my big brother Kain. Then we went out to the lake together and I got to hang out with him, just us black boys. We are back in the city for a few days but I can sense something big is going happen.

After a very long drive we arrived in north Texas last night. The big guy's mom lives out here and it sure is fun to check everything out.

I hope I heard wrong but there was some talk about roasting weenies.

I hope...

...the big guy knows how much I love him. It took about 6 years (dog) to understand where he was coming from but now I know that he really does like me. Sometimes it is so hard to keep my feelings under control and I let loose. But at least he doesn't give me attitude about it anymore.

I don't know what these people are thinking but...

...it's not very nice to leave Kacy and I alone. I know. I know. They had someone come and take care of the two of us but they know perfectly well that I only love them. Did they really expect me to just walk out the door with the guy? Sometimes I think Kacy is too trusting, though she did seem pretty happy to get out of the house for a little while. In the future I'll be keeping a close eye on everybody. You've been warned.

It was pretty busy...

...around here these past few days. We had a nice human visit us from Calgary. I wasn't too sure about her at first but then she let me be her lap dog. I sure wish my human would let me do that more.

...that I get help with a lot of things due to the shortness of the wheels. Kacy comes in handy for getting things off the counter for me.

i'm sorry to report...

...that my training schedule has kind of fallen by the wayside. It has been too hot to go to the park and really put some hard work into getting ready for the big race. However, I superdog as much as possible and I am still running laps. My human has always had me on a strict diet though I do get some treats from the big guy.

long weekends are AWESOME

My human and the big guy were around a lot over the past few days. I like to entertain them as much as possible so they can't possibly think any bad thoughts about me. I try to convince Kacy to chase me like Kain used to but she doesn't like the slippery floors. I'm okay with wiping out because, if you haven't noticed, I don't have too far to fall. But please don't call me short, I prefer the term low-rider.
Okay, I have to go nap.

We all went to the beach very early this morning. There was water all over the sand today so I got especially dirty. Kacy and I ran in and out of the water and up onto the sand dunes. On the way back to the car I found a nice ripe dead fish to roll on (I'm putting that on my list of favourite things to do). Now I am back at home, washed up and ready to roll.

The big guy sure likes to get us wound up. Last night he started his hootin' and hollerin' and I just can't help myself. It kinda hurts my ears and I try to tell him that but then Kacy does what all boxers do (don't they?)

woo hoo! i was able to convince my human that it would be perfectly acceptable to cuddle in bed with her this morning. She usually tells me off. No, really, she says "OFF" in such a stern voice, that it hurts my feelings sometimes. But this morning after the big guy was finished playing with me and left I just walked up looked her in the eye and told her this was the way it was going to be.

I am going to go upstairs and keep an eye out for the big guy. I had a nice long nap today so I'm looking forward to a little action when he gets home.

Hi to everyone in Canada that knows me - thanks for checking in on me. My human, you know the one, is taking good care of me. We go to the park a lot and the beach sometimes. Kacy is with me all the time and I get to play with her whenever I want or whenever she lets me. I keep an eye on the neighbourhood as there are a lot of dogs that think my sidewalk is their sidewalk.

We went to Buda, Texas a few weeks ago to watch a whole bunch of wieners racing at the 11th Annual Wiener Dog Races. I'm in training now for next year. I think I've got a pretty good shot at winning as long as I don't get freaked out by all the people.
